I made this for a boatswain in the Canadian Coast Guard. He came to me with a rather precarious arrangement of knife and marlin spike both wedged together into the same mismatched old Mora plastic sheath. The blade was all kinds of nasty, scratched to hell, and with a badly abused edge. The handle was encrusted in a layer of hardened gunk and the pins were all badly raised.
He wanted a new sheath. "The knife handle has to rest below the belt" he said. Oh, and.... he needed it pretty quick before he went back to sea. I said "I can do that".
So, in an effort to figure out how "to do that" I just began bending an old piece of scrap leather and, oddly enough, came up with an idea. I ended up building a new sheath that would house the tools a bit more securely and giving the knife a good face lift.
The sheath is made of one 6/7 oz veg tanned leather(RJF) with an integral welt, hand stitched and hot wax dipped. The bottom, blade tip corner of the sheath features a Tube Worm shell drainage hole(hey, why not?!). The welt is formed from the same uncut piece of hide as the entire sheath body. The completed sheath was given a hot wax dip and polish using the..... "Marchand Method".
Its a quick and dirty sheath that won't win any beauty contests, but its solid and functional. I hope he likes it.

This is what I was given:

This is what he gets back:
