I'm owner of a Hinderer XM18 in 3", and intersted to buy a Bob Dozier Large Hunter titanium with a D2 blade, wich do you choose as EDC of the two, and witch do you prefer if you have the two ?

Thank you !!!

I suspect the Dozier will be a better slicer of the two, and you should be able to get it at a much better price. I've seen Dozier ti folders going for around $500 brand new. The Hinderers are seldom below $750 used.

Price is an important point, but, in this thread i really want a technic opinion of these two blades.
I Know the XM, it's a very sharp blade, but wath about the Dozier ?
Bye

I only have a Dozier fixed blade at present but its plenty sharp. I think a good part of Dozier's fame is built on their ability to put a great edge on a knife.

How sharp the blade is out of the box isn't nearly as important as how well it retains that edge and can be resharpened. Also, is it so hard it chips or breaks? Not an issue with any of my Hinderers.

I have had both.. They are apples and oranges.

The Dozier is tip down and the pocket clip will feel "loose" in your pocket. It won't come out, but it sure feels like it could.

Every knife nut should own at least one Dozier. The D2 is outstanding.

Ricks knives are awesome and other than the inflated prices they are a awesome knife.

Both are great..If you put a gun to my head .. I hope I have a few minutes to think about which to choose:)

Hi,hi.... And the answer is...........

I'd pick a Dozier. I prefer the design. And nothing can really beat Dozier's reputation when it comes to D2 steel.

Dozier d2 holds a great edge forever, in fact I have yet to sharpen any of my folders. The hunters are great cutters, but I actually prefer the blade shape of the skinner. They are a little more expensive than the hunter(but still cheaper than the hinderer)but great! The blade is around 3.25. The large hunter has a 3.5 inch blade. There is a small hunter with a 3 inch blade though.
