Greetings to Joe Paranee and Blade Forum readers! Last October found Bill Bagwell home from his third trip to South Africa which was a rousing success thanks to the Durban Knife Club and African Bushveld Safari 's untiring efforts on Bill 's behalf. As it turns out, Bill made a knife to carry along with his trusty Sharps Rifle while over there; it was at his side constantly and soon bore the honest wear of a working knife. Fast forward to February 2011 and a break in the weather that allowed Bill to restore the knife's good looks and a trip to Bailey Bradshaw's shop to have "Bill Bagwell" and "R.S.A. 2010" engraved on the guard. (Republic of South Africa) This bowie is pictured with the 2007 & 2008 Safari knives that Bill carried there, and appear to be more ornate than usual, but these three still retain the high performance factors which Bill imparts to his blades, strength, edge holding, balance and blade geometry. I expect to have some more knives to share with you all, thanks again to Joe for posting and to every one for viewing/responding! Sincerely Bob Furusho

Oh man, all three are awesome, but that Damascus one is a cool combo of 'wispy' yet deadly looking! Kinda like crossing a Stilleto with a Bowie. Nice grippy looking stag too.

Joe, while I got your ear (i've been meaning to ask you this, since you're friends with Bill) is there any particular reason he opts for the mirrored finish on his carbon steel blades? I like them, but was just wondering.
Best Regards, Mac

That IS an impressive trio!!

Just a guess, but I would think the "polished" blades would be less prone to rust and easier to clean.

Peter nailed it a mirror polished blade is the best finish other than a coating to resist rust and they are easy to touch up if you are proficent with a buffing wheel

Joe,

Thanks for posting for Bob F !
Impressive to say the least, the bottom one does it for me.

All Great Blades !!!
