Hello and Happy New Years*to everyone! I was reading some back issues of* Soldier of* Fortune magazine when I discovered an advertisement* that Bill Bagwell had run some 10 years ago. The Ad featured one of Bill's Damascus Hell's Belles along with the title " Bagwell / Combat Knives with out Compromise "* across the top and phone no.*& address below. The Bowie pictured in the Ad is a very unique piece, worthy to represent the pinnacle in Bill's Damascus steel making. Bill explained just how much effort, time, sweat and skill went into transforming*its hot steel billet into the Belle in this Ad and it could be the most complex*working pattern*he has done to date, surpassing his 'Waterfall' and the rare 'Rivers and Streams'. What this means is that*requisite*strength, ductility and performance virtues remain intact and that all treatments do not unsettle*it in any fashion! This is quite the balancing act for Bill to maintain start to finish and all this to ensure a flawless weapon or tool for the client. Any flaws, blisters or defects will be exposed during Shop testing ( I have seen this first hand) and it is brutal. Bill made*this hb with a cocobolo coffin handle, iron spacer, collar and trim*with damascus cross guard, It has a sturdy heft in hand and feels like it could deliver a devastating blow! The Ad has an invalid phone # on it, the current # 903 938 0905 * I still*get a big thrill when the latest package arrives from Woodlawn, Tx, Thanks for stopping by and to JP for posting,* Sincerely Bob Fursho

Love your Bagwell threads Bob. I always learn something.

Thanks!

Thats cool. I think that the first time I ever read about damascus was in an article about Bill Moran and Bill Bagwell in SOF back in the late 70's.
