I just learned from Bob's daughter Amy that Bob passed away on March 31. Bob was beloved by many of us here at BladeForums. I thought some of you might like to say something about Bob Irons. His daughter started a thread in the Community forum making the announcement. Please, anyone who wants to share their thoughts please make a post in that thread: http://www.bladeforums.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/001371.html

BFC, Silver Springs Maryland, and the world is a poorer place for the loss.
My heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.
We'll miss you Bob.
TTYL.

Bob was here when I first came to BFC and when I left for several months, he was still here to talk and laugh with just as always.
He seemed like a constant. Never changing, and always there.
I don't know how many of you do this, but I name knives and guns. Sometimes because of some "personality quirk" of the instrument in question, but sometimes I name them for friends or loved ones.
I just received my new Emerson Commando from 1SKS today, and though Bob deserves to have his name attached to something TRULY special, this knife will bear the name "Bob"
Nothing fancy, but I'll think of him and the laughs we shared here at BFC every time I use the knife.
I have a feeling I'm going to be carrying this thing for a long time.
Fare well Bob, you're missed.
TTYL Friend.

Oh man, I'm stunned! Known Bob since the beginning of all of the knife forums came about .... I'll miss you Bob, but I'm sure you will be still here with us in spirit!

I purpose that we rename the General Forum to the General Iron Discussion Forum or something similar as a tribute to Bob. I really enjoyed his posts. He was a true gentleman and will be missed.

The name would have a neat sound and make sense since knives (mosty anyway) have iron in them and that way we can think of Bob daily basis.

Not to sure what the rest of the forum thinks but I hope we could do something. Mike and Spark, what do you think?

I am very sorry to hear about Bob's passing.

Respectfully,

Nice touch Gregg, good idea and neat sound, I'm sure Bob would be proud to live on here....

We really have lost a fine person. This really hits hard. To me Bob represented some of the finer people I have met. I am at work choked up and shocked over his passing.

My condolences to his family with wishes that his memory be eternal.
