Here are the specs from the Spyderco Catalog:
Blade Steel ATS-55
Blade Thickness 1/8" 3mm
Diam.Blade hole 15/32" 12mm
Weight 5.1oz 145g
Blade length 3 13/16" 97mm
Length closed 5" 127mm
Length cutting edge 3 7/16" 88mm
Length overall 8 3/4" 223mm
Hardness Rc 59-61

Hope this helps. The Lum is a great knife. I love mine.

Thanks Michael!

The Spyderco web site has the cutting edge being 3 5/8".

How does it lock up compared to other higher end liner locks? What percentage does the liner lock travel over the blades tang when opened with one hand and when flicked open?

I would also like to know the Ti's handle slabs thickness and overall handle thickness if possible. Does this knife have double liners?

Hate to ask so many questions, but would like to know before investing that amount of money on a production made liner locking knife. I have had so many liner locking knives in the past to only be disappointed later down the road with the fast wear the liner locks eventually see. But I have heard that this particular knife is the exception to the rule about liner locks! I don't know how true that is, need some first hand knowledge from owners of this knife!

Correct me if I`m wrong, but I think you`re combining the two Lum Spydercos in that name. IIRC there is the Lum tanto, and the Lum Chinese Folder.

btw-Any word on the handle decoration? I heard there talk about either a bat or a bamboo design on the handle. Any info?

I stand to be corrected. I'm only interested in the Bob Lum Tanto Folder C46PS at this point.

Sorry for any confusion, my fault!

Steve, neither bat nor bamboo on the handle of the Chinese Folder. Sal said they couldn't get it to stick to the Almite

Don't worry that the world might end tomorrow....in Australia it's tomorrow already.

I'll dress it in bamboo and stick a bat on the handle myself *hee-hee!*

GREAT PICS JONNY!

Looks like one smooth clean looking knife. LOVE that Tanto Blade the Ti handle supports. I prefer a partially serrated edge, but these pics show me what I needed to see. Thanks!

I am going to have to think about it a little longer though, that liner lock seems awfully thin with little room for wear. I might eventually get that knife after I consider a little more. The blade and handle I do like much so, but it's the liner lock that worries me some!!

Awwhhh heck .... okay, I thought about it.

Yeapers....getting one ordered TODAY!

Can't turn down a Tanto Blade Folder with a Ti handle now can I?!!

red Mag : yes ...I polish and round out the handle and clip

and been carry it for a while and switch back to my plain edge Military

the military is less weight

if there is a G-10 Lum ......that will be great ~~

Thanks

The Lum has a very useful handle and blade shape. The edge has a subtle but obvious belly. The handle has an intergal finger guard and a pinky "hook" as well. Both makes it suitable for a PP (Protective Purpose) piece. Although there is a single steel liner coupled with Ti scales, it is a bit heavier than I' ve expected. The earlier models I' ve handled had a somewhat smooth finish. The recent models I came across had a slight blasted texture. Sign... it needs to be blasted quite a bit more. Witness the scales of Benchmades Pinnacle models. Now that' s a working finish!

WOW! Johnny, those are some beautiful pictures of the Lum Tanto. So nice in fact that I was thinking that I might now want to get one, right up until I saw the locking liner. That is one thin lock! Bummer.

Incidentally, the blade shape looks extremely similar to the blade of my Simonich Tanto Cetan. It is a very nice shape: concave/hollow ground primary edge, with essentially a flat ground front edge, and a little belly. Very useful shape, for a "tanto".

The front edge is convex, not flat.
