Great image of an awesome folder! I am more of a traditional folder fan, but I could get pretty excited about one of these.

Super piece, Bob! Has so many cool features. I am especially impressed with your recurve blade. Great steel choice, nice hamon and looks like some steel banding going on. Love it!

That's great! I love the bolster treatment.......and your photo is OK too:rolleyes::D

Great looking knife, but the hamon is so high up as to be virtually pointless.

The hamon on a folding knife is anyway pointless but for the estetic. In this case i find it extremely pleasing and well proportioned.
Very well made knife, a lot of colours and tasteful textures

I would posit that a "proper" hamon on ANY knife demonstrates high degree of understanding and control of heat treating that steel, and cannot comment on your aesthetic("estetic") preferences.

The Japanese masters of such things do not share similar tastes in the development of what a "proper" hamon is.

Please don't get me wrong, btw, the knife IS very attractive imo, but if I saw it at a show, would pass on it because of the hamon.....particularly do like the detail work on the bolsters.

Thank you Caleb for the exquisite photography! Also, thank you to everyone for the kind comments. I would not be anywhere close to where I am in knifemaking with out all the assistance many of you have given.

After recently exchanging emails with Caleb about his image of this piece, he brought to my attention he had done a thread on this great piece only a few days ago. I then realized I must have seen the thread but must have become involved in something else and had forgotten about it - which often happens to those who have had strokes. But I did remember seeing this one in Bob Ohlemann's post about the Texas show, and it had attracted me enough to inquire about it.

Well, I just had to have it and decided to pick this one up a few days ago - it was screamin' for a new home in California. Caleb's representation of Bob's work captures it perfectly. Great example where the image and the knife actually complement each other almost 100%.

Great folder, great image and absolutely artistic accomplishment when it comes to the copper etch/pattern - and of course a perfect action. Thanks to Bob and Caleb.

Best regards,

Bob
