Does it work reliably ? You have rediced the weight of the hammer thus reducing the impact on the primer.

aint range tested it yeat but it should, ive ran 20 primered cases through it and it fired every single one. after all, all it really is is a home made warp speed hammer but alot heavier. kimber even has a 1911 out with a similar hammer from the factory.

that aint the only thing i ground on hehehe, its all about practicality. i dont carry condition 1 so if i have to use it ive still got to rack the slide (yes yes i know its slower) BUT the way i see it is if the gun should missfire it would be faster to rack the slide again and get another round in the chamber than to fiddle with the hammer (btw, ive never had a 45 that did not go off when i pulled the trigger). ive got small hands and cant just reach up and pull the hammer back so easily. i cant even remember the last time that ive used the a spur.

my bud had a 1911 with the hammer like that and occasionally had misfires, YMMV though, he ended up w/a mcormick commander looking skelotonised hammer which was lots shorter spur vs the stock one, hope it works ok for ya though.

IIRC a 'smith said it was too lite,

I've never had an auto with a dehorned hammer, but I've had several revolvers, and they all worked reliably.
Of course, the revolver hammer has considerably more mass involved....

ill up the spring tension tonight just incase. dont think im gona be able to get to the range any time soon though i may have to send it with a friend.

I have to ask what is the point of a SA gun if you don’t carry in position one, there are some DA 1911 clones and some DA guns with grip angles like a 1911. So I can’t really see the point of carrying a gun that isn’t ready to use.
