Over the weekend I attended the Arkansas Custom Knife Show in Little Rock, Arkansas. I had a great time hangin' out with David Lisch, Mike Quesenberry, Don Hanson III and his son Kyle, and a new forum friend, Seth (Bladeplay74). I also met a slipjoint maker I was not familiar with by the name of Bobby L. Toole, from Vicksburg, MS. Let me just say this man makes a phenomenal slipjoint. I bought one of his Gent models.

This single blade slipjoint, The Gent, is 3.68" closed, ATS-34 blade steel, integral bolsters/liners of 416 stainless, with North Sea mammoth ivory covers. The fit, finish and walk and talk are just superb, with no gaps anywhere. Bolsters are relieved for free movement of the tang, pulls are a solid 6 with a half-stop, and the spring is flush with the liners at open, closed and half-stop. Grinds are wonderfully even, and the edge came shaving sharp. Enjoy the pics!

I really like the look of that Jeff. I'll definitely be keeping on eye out for more of his knives.

Real nice lookin' Jack, Jeff.
Great Mammoth - it indeed looks like the North Sea!
I like the shield also, hints of old, yet a new design.

From Vicksburg! I basically grew up there. I'll have too look for some more of his stuff.

I should probably get some of his work and TA Davidson since they are from Mississippi.

That is a sweet knife.

Thanks for showing us this beautiful piece of craftsmanship! I just love the placement of the shield on its cover. Stunning colors in that mammoth !

Jeff,
You have a STUNNING FOLDER and the name, Gent fits it perfect.
VERY, VERY NICE INDEED.

Very elegant looking knife. Love the integrated bolsters and mammoth ivory!

Great looking knife. I love the integral bolsters and the threaded groove on them. Classy overall look in ATS 34, just great.

Mike

As I mentioned in the thread about the show in the Custom and Handmade forum Bobby had an outstading table with some stunning slipjoints. I didn't get a look at the Gent at the show but I can see why you snagged it up. In addition to the top notch work Bobby is such a nice guy to visit with and I hope he continues to come to Little Rock in years to come.
Congrats on your new knife, even if I am a touch jealous.

Chris

Jeff - thanks for showing this great example of a knife :)

I really like the lines. The F&F seems to be just plain great in any way.

I´m sure it will serve you well for a long period of time :) Enjoy it!!

Heck Yeah I know Bobby he's one of the best. Nice show - snag Jeff

That is some of the most interesting and beautiful mammoth I've ever seen- it looks like satellite photos of coastal regions.

The blade has a nice slender sharp look to it as well.

Great catch!
