Never owned bocate but I have owned other wood inlays and own a Micarta Small Classic.
The Micarta is awesome for work and it actually gets grippier when wet. For the Seb, that is a plus because ti can get slick when wet, so the Micarta inlays gives much better traction despite them looking kind of small.
Their wood is great quality and holds up, but it doesn't really do much for grip. I think a black wood Seb I had was actually slicker than the base 'naked' Seb, so I've come to really like Micarta Seb.
Another +1 for the Micarta Seb is that it is very hard to damage, and it does a great job at hiding cosmetic markings from extended usage. In terms of toughness, micarta as a material is super tough. Drop a Seb with the wood and if the wood makes contact with the surface, it is going to get scratched and dinged up. Drop a Micarta Seb and nothing is going to happen to the finish. And I think the Micarta Seb is a little less than many of the woods inlays although I am not positive.
Both I believe are held on by 3M's VHB tape, which is stronger than most rivets and even some welds.
