I'm thinking about re-handling my Bog Dog. Is it a simple matter of just drilling out the tube, or does anyone know if there is epoxy down there also?

Thanks!

SHould be zero epoxy. Them handles stay on real well with just hte expanded rivets. Take it slow so you don't over-drill something that shouldn't be.

Hold it. Bog Dog??? Res-C mudder handle????

I'd consider trying to trade it out for a Dog Skinner. Similar blade, different handle, mod-friendly.

I'm not sure how easily the Res-C will come off. And how much of that handle is Res-C and how much is steel. So be careful before you do something you can't go back on.

As far as I have read, you should be able to drill out the tube and with some force pull the res handle off. I think Andy over on the Swamp Rat forum has done it.

Well, I'm starting to see some rust down the handle. If it weren't for that, I wouldn't do this. At the least, I'll pull the handle off, get rid of the rust, and fill the gap with epoxy. Or else re-handle it with something else. I don't want this knife to die of cancer...

Does he have a solution for this without re-handling? To be clear, I'm not at all unhappy with the mudder handles, I'm just concerned about rust that I can't see. That's all. I love this knife, it's as close to my version of a perfect hunting knife as any other that I have.

Full flat grind, 52100 (ok, SR101), perfectly sized choil, handle and blade just right for my hands. What's not to like? :D

I do not know what he might suggest, but the Bog Dog is Fairly uncommon so i would look before I leapt. It really is one of the nicer knives the swamp has produced.

I thought the bog dog was d2 steel?? rust?

I have a dog skinner and the blade is pristine.

They were made in both D2 and SR101. Mine are SR 101, I wouldn't mind getting one of the D2's also...

I think Eric could probably have the handle taken off, buff off corrosion and put a new handle on.
