Boguszweski Spike questions

A long time ago when they first came out I got a mini Spike. My son eventually “borrowed” it and then lost it. He really liked the design. Now he has expressed an interest in getting one, mini or regular. I see some on the bay but I am leery of getting one due to the prevalence of fake knives on the bay.

Are counterfeits of the Spike common? What are some of the telltale signs that would indicate whether one is real or not?
