Boiling FRN Spyderco?

Hi folks,
I snagged a Rescue3 (I think?) at the country flea market today for a measly $7. It's in pretty good shape, some scratches on the pocket clip and one of the teeth is chipped.
It is, however, pretty filthy. If it were screw construction I'd just take it apart and go at it, but you can only do so much when you can't take it apart.
With old straight razors I always boil them and you wouldn't believe the rap that was in there.
I'm rambling, sorry :)
So, if I boil an FRN handle will it warp or melt or some other horrible thing?
Thanks for any help,
Steve

MMMM add some veggies and you'll have spyderco soup! sounds good!

but seriously i think it would be ok.

Just make sure it's suspended in the water and not laying on a hot surface.:)

Boiling water can only get to 212 F but the bottom of the pot can get a lot hotter. Like the others, I think you will be OK. That's only about 50 degrees hotter than a parked car with the windows up here in the summer time.

I think it's better to put it in the water and then make it boil, instead to put it in the boiling water to avoid thermal shock. I see it survived the cleaning, anyway :)
