Jim Downie was telling me he thought he remembered someone boiling the oils out of oily wood and then stabilizing them. Now I'm visualizing the same thing all of you are but I'd like to know if anyone has tried it and what your results were.

The alternative I'm considering is to use the vacuum chamber to impregnate with varsol and then sucking it all out - kind of like a lipid extraction process.

Constructive comments welcome. (I've already been called an idiot.)

Rob!

By the way, I finally got the website updated. I'll build the light box before I try any more photography.

Just a quick note on the site. I've got John working on the dead links. I'd also like to apologize to anyone he gave a heart attack to. (You'll know who you are.) He didn't know I'd posted the update yet and thought he was being funny and thought I was his only audience.

Rob!
