Last year was the first for the Boise Knife Show.
For me it was one of the most enjoyable shows I have attended so far.
I have had a sheltered life so far, only west coast shows.

A few questions for the knife makers.
Will you be attending this year?
Did you go last year?
What did you think?

I really liked the show because;
there were some really good makers
I got to meet a lot of you guys
Sold a lot of wood
....and the rooms at the Marriott were great.

Some of the regulars here won some awards last year.
Mike Quesenberry won Best Hand Forged, Best Hunter/Utility and Best Damascus.

Bill Burke won Best Fighter and Best Bowie.

John Doyle won Best New Maker.

We're going again this year. Cant wait although I dont have a thing to sell yet. Been working on my pistol/folder to take for show and tell. Hopefully will get some slip joints done.

Last year for a "first time show" was really good. I brought home a knife but also brought home some house payment money. The foot traffic was good all weekend but may be paritially due to the gun show next door. I still expect a better crowd this year as word is out that this is a nice show to attend.

This year there will be a series of cutting chores for us non athletic makers that would snap a hip to go through the Blade Sports compitition. Oh thats there too again I think but this coarse should be interesting and fun. Any knife is legal to use I believe. I dont have all the details so if anybody could fill in some blanks here I'd appreciate it. From what I hear from David is there will be a "Certificate" for all that pass the test and that knife will be for sale on the makers table or at least be a sample of what the maker has to offer for sale. It should pan out to be a useful and fun sales tool for everybody that passes.

I'll be there, looking forward to it. Like Bruce, I'm also curious about the cutting competition. Bruce don't feel bad, I don't have anything made for the show either. I'll be finishing up a couple projects next week and then it's time to kick it in high gear for the show.

I can't wait to go... will be my first knife show, looking forward to seeing some great stuff from y'all. Also trying to save a few $$ for it, I have a feeling I'll be spending too much :). Very excited.

I'll be there again too.

And Bruce and Mike, I guess three is company because I don't have a single knife finished for the show yet either!;)

I should have a small mean little bowie that Raymond Richard and I are doing together. It has his world class hand forged blade and my gaurd and tapered stag handle treatment. Its for sale too so save your pennies.

This will be my second Boise Show. I was pretty impressed with the turn out of last years first show. I'm going to make up a few signs for those that don't have knives for the show directing them over to my table except I can't remember where my table was last year.

I will be there, I am really looking forward to meeting makers and getting to see some of your work in person. Bruce, Mike and John better get busy! :D

Sounds like fun guys...and at least there will be handle material for sale. Anyone wanting a knife from Ray better buy it now. Sounds like he'll be sold out after the show. ;)

I'll be there again. Last year was a great show and advertised very well. Looking forward to it but like most of the others, don't have anything made for it yet. 4 weeks left guess we all better get busy.

Ha finally I do have something made for the show. I have one hunter done so I guess I am ahead of everyone else at this point.:)

Oh man, that one sounds like it'd be right up my alley... Hope we get somepictures of it here on Bladeforums :)

Hey Eli,
Sounds good, I'll post one before the show. I'm excited about it, Ray and I have never worked together before.

Wife and I just made reservations at the Marriott hope to see you on Sat / Sun!

Just one more week til Boise.
Still not ready. I am always afraid I won't bring enough.
Thursday morning we head out ready or not.
Looks like several of you guys will be bringing some really cool knives.

I'm coming. Not ready to sell. Just coming to get some wood for handles!
Brian,
You are going to have a great time looking at everyone's knives. There is a really good mix of makers at this show.
It is best to keep a napkin in one hand while looking at the knives (to wipe the drool off your chin).
Be sure to check out the knives from the guys here on the forum. Their photos look great, but seeing them in person, OOOOOH Baby!
You'll see what I am talking about.
Have fun and be sure to stop by and say hello.

I know Mark. I spent six hours at the Oregon show, it was my first knife show. I can't wait. I'm planning on filling my pockets with power bars so I don't have to stop for food. :-)
