Hi, wondered if I could get some info on this knife - BOKER themselves have sent me here!

I brought this at a bootsale 15years ago not knowing what I was buying if I'm honest, have recently discovered it again.

Please see the email from BOKER

Hi,

As best I can tell, based on the tang stamp, this is a ‘sportsman’s’ model, made sometime between 1869 – 1880. It is VERY RARE. Unfortunately, we do not have any other information as the factory was destroyed in 1944.

As the metal may be brittle at this point in its life, I would be careful NOT to open it much. Also, I would take care to keep it oiled to further prevent rusting and deterioration.

Hope this helps

Pretty cool, has anyone seen one before.

Thanks
R

Welcome to BladeForums first of all.

If you don’t receive any useful information in this forum, give this other Sub Forum here at BladeForums a try too.

Good Luck and also don’t accept any offers asking if you want to sell this until you know what you have either. Lots of vultures reading your post will try to swoop in and pick this up from you dirt cheap, just a heads up.

Also, because you haven’t paid for a Gold Membership, you are strictly limited into asking only about information of your knife (which you did perfectly), absolutely no value talk, talk about price, or even potentially selling it is allowed. If you later upgrade to a paid Gold Membership ($30/year), then you are most welcome to ask about value, price, what you could sell for, and even sell it here free of charge.

Good luck to you, and again, Welcome to BladeForums
