I have a call in to Terry of Boker USA, and we're playing phone tag, at the moment, but in case this is an easier way to resolve the issue, I'll attempt it.
Anyway, I received a Boker 2040, with the ceramic blade, and titanium handle, in a lock-back configuration. The blade is broken at the back, where it locks in to the lock-bar. This prevents the blade from locking open. The edge is all beat to heck, as well. The handle is still intact, although it is a bit dinged up.
It would look like the best option would be to just toss the whole thing in the trash, but I'd like to hope that there is a chance at a second life for this well used, and respected tool. All shortcomings of a ceramic blade are understood, and accepted, so it's not a matter of "it's broke, and I want it replaced" rather, I just want to find a way to save some of the invested value of the overall package.
If there is a way to repair the blade, or even just sharpen it, and make it into a fixed blade, that would be fine. I might request a sharpen, either way, as I could probably find some way to make use of just the blade. If there is the chance that I can have a 440V blade installed, or even a 440C blade, for a reasonable fee, I'd be happy to have something similar to the Titan 3.
Is there any hope for this "ruined" knife?
Any help would be appreciated,
Daniel Dorn
