There are a lot of SE razors out there....vintage, new, custom.....

I have liked straights for a long time.....don't actively collect them, but do accumulate them. Currently, I have a Butch Harner custom handled in some cool burl wood, a Greg Lightfoot custom in titanium, a Dovo in white pearlex and this Tortoise shell synthetic Boker with Silver steel in a 6/8 grind. It's probably my favorite.

It is a hefty, big razor. The blade is 4 5/16" when held in shaving position and the edge is right around 3". I like the heft, and if you can find an older one, the jimping(new models are purported not to have the jimping).......while not easy to find(frequently out of stock) the price is almost economical and the finishing is top quality.

This shot shows some significant attention to detail....that lettering is ETCHED/stamped in for eternity!

LOVE this handle material!

In short, if you happen to like SE razors, you can do a lot worse and pay a lot more money for a vintage model, or you can fork over south of $150.00 and have one of the best razors available on the market.

Thanks for the post Steven! Beautiful razor! I love a 6/8 or 7/8 as well, there's just something about it ;)

Very nice looking razor. Always liked the look of faux tortoise scales on a razor. Never had a vintage Boker that wasn't a fine shaver so looks like they are carrying on the tradition in the new ones. The only very minor thing that irks me on new razors is that most all makers use a nail head pin to pin the scales with where only one side is actually peened.

Very nice looking razor. I like the faux tortoise.

I will say however, that if you keep your eye out you can get some great vintage razors in good or great condition without having to spend as much $$ as you would for a new one.

I got it at wholesale cost.....I keep my eyes out for razors in mint condition like this all the time, and they average around $100.00 everywhere I look....so if you have some specific advice....give it up, I'll gladly take it.
