I purchased an AFD #2100 (s60v) about a week ago. It was brand new. When I pulled it out of the box I examined it closely. The edge was extremely dull. I then proceeded to sharpen it. I used my sharp maker to no avail. Before you ask, I've been sharpening knives for twenty years and am experienced. I then proceeded to use my diamond laps from course to fine and still no wire edge. Could this blade have some possible heat treat issues? Is any one familiar with their warranty department? Help me Boker!!:grumpy:

Sorry to hear about your AFD...I can only get mine "sharp enough", but I am happy with it.

I am positive Boker will take care of you. They have one of the BEST Warranty Dept.'s in the industry!!!

*Ahem...Terry, that is YOUR cue I believe?*;)

God bless Shawn B., and keep us posted...

It is a lil bit more difficult to resharpen it, cause the S60V is a high performance steel!
The hardness of it is around 60 HRC!
You cannot sharpen it as easy as a high carbon steel or a 420 stainless steel.

The main reason, why it is not easy to resharpen it is, that the blade is pretty thick and it is pretty sleek.
We, in Solingen, are honing the knives on a belt grinder (180, 320, and then leather wheel) and we do get results, that we can shave our arms.

So, if you do not see a chance to resharpen it, maybe it would be good to contact Terry from Boker USA.

I hope this helps a lil bit.

Shawn B.
I received your message yesterday, however, I was working in the warehouse, and did not get it til closing time.
I will be calling you today, and we can figurethis out.
Thanks,
Terry
