Hello all. I wanted to get a small stout folder and have narrowed it down to these two. I really love the looks and finish of the Boker(albatros), but have heard about and seen some QC issues with them. The Techno I know is first rate from all the reviews I've read. The Techno is more money I know but I'd rather cry once as they say and get the knife I'd be most happy with. I appreciate any advise. Thanks

techno or bm 755 mpr... the techno may carry better but i personally prefer the mpr :)
regarding the albatross, its an acttractive knife but quality control/refinement is lacking... pass on it

edit: added some pics for you

Both are nice knives.
I would pick up the Techno.
The Techno has the better steel, I've heard of no issues with it, and the fit and finish is top notch.
That's what I'd get.

Yea BM 755. Thats another sweet knife. BC777, I'm concerned about fit and finish with Boker so I think those issues offset the great design. It always amazes me how some company's put out what could be a real winning design, then stop just short of making it right. I guess a certain price point is more important.

Techno for sure, I would avoid Boker in general, their F&F is piss poor.
Sad considering they have really awesome designs and collaborations :(

The Techno is a great small folder, if you like stout titanium frame locks, which it sounds like you do, then you can't miss. The only small complaint is the detent is quite strong, but I do believe it is getting better the more I use it.

Jaiofspam. Thanks for the pic's. That BM looks even better close-up. Now I"m back up at Two again.

I have an albatross and honestly love it. I may have just been one of the lucky ones that got a good one though, no lock rock, but the detent is super strong on it. Now that I have it broken in a bit, it does fly open now though. It however is not an easy knife to carry due to its weight and size though...

I'd go with a BM 755. But I'm biased. I made a video about mine: "EDC Knife Cage Match" where I compete the MPR against a William Henry. And it was a close match!

Seriously, though, the 755 is a great little beast with a super steel blade. Only complaint is a stiff pocket clip, but it works fine in jeans. Otherwise, go Techno. The Techno looks a little better, to me, but I prefer thumb studs.

I love the design and look of the Albatros, but unfortunately Boker's F&F lacks which has always been their biggest downfall.

Got get the MPR or Techno!

Congrats turtle on getting a good albatros. It is a fine looking knife. I like the BM and Techno both, but being a sucker for titanium I'll probably go with the Techno. Thanks much for all the help people.

I have a albatros and I have no issues at all. Mine came with perfect lock up and no blade play at all .Given the choice between the albatros and the techno I would take the techno any day due to the better blade steel. If you have the coin to drop I would suggest looking at a custom (or are they midtech now?)Curtiss nano.

Out of the updated two, even though I'm a lover of all things Benchmade, I'd suggest techno. I've handled both, and while I generally prefer everything about the 755, it's a tank. It's a lot heavier than a techno.

On a side note, while I generally don't like the appearance of Spyderco knives, the techno is one of the few I kind of like style-wise. It still has the goofy hole, but it doesn't have the fugly hump, and in person it's a sharp looking, albeit fat and short, little knife.

I know there were some issues with the practices of DPX's owner but go to their website and check out there upcoming release called the DPx HEAT. That's going to be a hot little framelock folder!!!!! I don't own any of their knives now but I'm going to get one of those when they are available.

Both are just about the opposite of what I like to carry: long, thin, and slicey. But the Techno gets the nod from me, not just cause I'm a fanboy either :p. based on blade steel, opening hole, and looks.
