I am liking the styling of this knife, but have no experience with Boker knives in general and this one in particular. I would appreciate info from owners or folks with some working knowledge with this knife...fit and finish, lock strength, ergonomics and general handling qualities...the usual grill.

Big thanks in advance for any input.

what disassembly tool do you need to unscrew the blade pivot screw. everything else looks like normal torqs.

I only want to buy one if i can take it apart for cleaning and such.

I think a "face spanner" or spring ring/washer spanner (pincers:confused:) will do the trick for the special pivotscrew.

Pretty descent knive i guess with a sturdier tip as the RBB one. The handle however is rather large. Could be possitive if you have big mits.

Look at this pictures it is a german review the bloke is very possitive about the knive but also statues its rather big:

It's not realy that big, just looks intimidating, another example of "political incorrect" EDC :D:D:D It definitely has the best ergonomics amongst the RBB/AK series. Moreover, the thumbdisk instead of a thumbstud shows it's meant for Hard Use, whereas the thumbstuds might simply slip off when wet or wearing gloves, the grooves are at the right places to provide extra grip in varios handling posistion, and the flipper acts like a semi-guard preventing possible slip-off during forward thrusting ;) With its 180 gram, it's not a lightweight like the RBB autos.

Checked it out several times, I like it, the only reason why I dont have one yet is that my funds are oriented in a different direction... :o

I like the looks of this one;)...I should have gotten my PE sample by now...*ahem*...Marketing? TJT?

This IS a big folder...

Plinker in the link i posted scroll down and you will see a picture of the knive with the little darn spannertool ;) that comes with it.

I´ve just bought one, is a massive folder, very sharp from the box, bronze washers, no blade play, I like it.

I've had mine for about a month now. It is a large knife, but is not cumbersome or clunky like some other large folders. Ergonomics are excellent, and the overall build quality is very nice. Lockup is very solid with no play at all thanks to the bronze washers sandwiching the blade. The pocket clip allows the knife to sit very deep in the pocket. Coupled with the slim profile of the knife, it makes for a very concealable knife provided you are not wearing skin tight Wrangler's.... My only complaint with it is that the plain edge version doesn't come in black :(

Just received my 101 today. (the black, serrated model) An impressive blade, indeed. I'm a big guy (6'3, 247) so the handle on the 101 is heaven to my big paws. Impressive that, right out of the box, the blade is sharp and the "flipper" deploys the blade super fast. And the flipper is crucial because the thumb disk is set just forward of the thumb ramp and even my long thumb has to extend to the max to follow the disk all the way out. Otherwise, I'm already in love with this one. My 101 and my Armed Forces II tanto are my two favs. I had wondered if Boker's quality would suffer from its Plus line being produced in the Far East. But this is my second purchase from the Boker Plus line and I'm extremely pleased that the quality is still there. Excellent knife!

As I'm one of the participants from the PA of the Messerforum that Maarten has linked here, I think I take the chance and write something about the AK101.
Before the AK101, I would never have considered buying such a large folder. But now that I finally have it in my hands (I'm the last one, in a few days it will go back to Boker), I really like it. The handle feels great, the blade is sharp and it sounds very solid when it locks.
The only thing I don't really like is the strong recurve at the end of the blade. I like recurve, but that's just a little too much. Another disadvantage could be the size of the knife/the weight and the fact, that you can completely hide it in your pocket and no one will notice. But if you pull it out, sheeple will start running...:grumpy:
But hey, so what, life's too short to carry small pocket folder!:D

Is is possible to 'mod' the thumb aid to make it bigger?

I would like to add a larger thumb aid so that when I take it out of the pocket the edge of the pocket 'catches' on it causing it to open.

Since there is no safety lock how 'safe' is the liner lock? If I hit the knife on the back will it eventually close?

Great knife, have ordered it already, very impressed with Boker.

Thanks.

Awesome blade. What is the street price for one of these bad boys? I am totally set on getting one soon!!!
