wow, when did we get a boker forum?

Anyway, guys ebay has some nice boker bone barlows in carbon steel for sale!!! If I had not ordered some from another source I would have gotten them there myself, the prices are pretty decent. Im afraid I do nto have a link though. I just put in "boker barlow" into the search on ebay and they came up.

Well unfortunately the barlows I ordered were really bad quality. The bolsters on the small blade side on three of them were loose. The fourth had a bad crack in the bone scale on the large blade side. These will definitely go back to the store!!!

That's a shame. I have a Boker barlow (carbon blades, bone scales) that I bought a couple years ago from their Magnum catalog that is perfect.

magnum? that's where mine came from :( I can understand one, but all four being defective, thats really bad quality control. I was thinking about buying some of the newer russell barlows, but I just learned boker made them also. If they are anything like the four lemons I have there is no way I'll consider buying them. Boker knives use to be high quality, Im not so sure now. Two years ago I bought a few of the copperhead liner locks in jigged red bone. almost all of them had bad liner to backspring fit (I decided to live with those). I have an old stockman in red smoothbone I bought over 13 years ago. Great knife, great fit and finish, but these new barlows? A big dissappointment.

rev jch,
First you said you got them from a store, then you said you got them from us through our Magnum division, where did you get them?
If you are not satisfied with them,we do have a 30 day satisfaction guarantee, return them to me,and we will either fix them,or replace them
under the warranty.
I don't know why you wouldn't have called us before, the phone number is in the paperwork that comes with the knives.I would definately try to make it right.
I got one of the 2 bladed Barlows, and sent some out as gifts last month, and the fit and finish are fine.
If it is a model 85,I still have some in stock.
Give us a call before writing us off, besides,if you complain to me,I can probably fix it :D
Thanks,TJT

TJT,
I did buy them from magnum, magnum is a store correct? I was looking at them from other places like ebay, but had already ordered them from magnum. I did talk to Noel in customer service already this morning about them.

Im not "writing you guys off", magnum has always given me good service, that in no way is being disputed. Im not going to "write you guys off", but I am writing these awful barlows off. Someone should have caught them. I did ask Noel to write in the notes to have them checked over since they were for collector purposes. She put it in the notes, it came printed on the invoice, but either someone forgot, or was in a hurry, or did not look at all? Im hoping it was just an honest mistake and someone forgot to check.

Sir,
We do apologize for the inconvenience.
We do strive to make service good, but as you said, mistakes happen.
Those wouldn't happen to have been green jigged bone would they?
I had a few problems with those.
Thanks for calling us,and giving us a chance, and I look forward to more
orders from you.
On a seperate note,I didn't know whether you got them from a brick and mortar store,or from us here.
Have a good day.
TJT

Yes, they are the green jigged bone, they are aboslute pices of junk. The bolster on the small blade side, near ther blade, where it meets the handle, are loose on three, you can fit a pencil tip behind the coners that are coming apart. The fourth has a bad crack in the bone on the large blade side.

TJT,
are you familar with the russell barlows boker made for them in the boker factory in solingen? Ive heard some mixed things about them, but was wondering if you knew anything?

Just wondering where these we're made. Can't believe they'd come that bad from the Solingen factory. Gotta be their Argentina (Arbolito) plant???

No, they came from the Solingen plant. I have knives made there from many years ago that the quality is superior to these.

rev,
Sorry for the late reply, but which barlows?
The Stag ones are very nice, and seem to have superior fit
and finish.
Thanks,TJT
