Just received a boker folder. It has the Confederate battle flag etched on the blade. The same flag with 13 stars that is in the news now from South Carolina. Inside the flag is etched "brend". Please tell me how a German-made knife came to have such an etching.

Your knife is a collaboration between Boker and custom maker Walter Brend. Brend originally hails from South Carolina and uses the flag as his stamp on his custom knives.

More to the point, Gary, how do you like it? Inquiring minds want to know. Welcome to the Forums, by the way. Your life may never be the same.

Hallo,Gary.I bought my W.Brend with Cocobolo handles a few weeks ago and I`m in love with it!Great look ,good handling and even the price is o.k.!Here in Germany you can get the BTF-1 with G-10 handles and the BTF-2 with Cocobolo handles. There is also a Damascus version with wooden handels available, but it costs a little more.

The Brend is a pretty good knife for the money.I've had one for a couple of months.I like it.

Any of you guys have a problem with the blade rubbing the liner upon deployment,,seen a few posts recently that addressed this issue.

Thanks

Kevin

Hi Senator,

Actually, Walter is originally from Florida and now lives in South Carolina. Apparently he plans to stay there for awhile.

Kevin, i held one in the store and it did seem to rub the liner a little. Got pretty annoying so i put it down

And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold the great red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads...And His tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth; and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.

Les - Walter has lived in Walterboro, SC for a number of years according to the Knives annuals. Last I had heard, he had moved to Florida to be closer to Microtech and the collaborations they've been so fond of lately. Is that not the case?

Actually Les, part of my info came from you.

Here's part of an 8/16/99 post of yours:

Walter has no web site, no email address.

He is not taking orders and when he stopped he was 2 years behind.

He will be moving to Vero Beach FL as soon as he can.

Hope your not in a hurry!

Did he not make that move?
