The boker collaboration knives like the ones by Boker/Manaro or the kwaiken. Seem like they are too good too be true. So are they quality pieces that do justice to the original or are they junk that I shouldn't waste my money on?

In my experience, you need to see a Boker collaboration to know if it is worth buying. If you cannot, buy from some place where you can easily return it.

The ones I've owned- the Kwaiken and the Federal- were both top notch pieces for their prices. I've heard good things about many of the others. Boker Plus qc can be shakey, but poor fit/finish is not the norm.

I will agree with this. Most I've bought the design has been great but they almost always wind for sale or given to friends.

I only have one, a Dozier Arkansas Traveler collaboration in AUS -8A. IMO, it was a waste of money. Poor finish and quality.

I've had a couple of good ones and a couple of bad ones. Folders. Their fixed blades are usually top notch in my experience.

I picked up a War Toad collab. Seems well built but came with a 30~ degree edge on the sharpened bevel. I've been working on dropping it down to 20 degrees but it's taking a while. For the price it's great but I would have liked it a lot more if it came with a lower edge angle. So far two hours on the Sharpmaker diamonds and still not even half-way there

The manaros I have handled were less than impressive. As was the todd begg collab as they have bad lock flex. The kwaikens though are top notch. I really think they are one of the better knives in the boker line plus series or not.

Boker collaborations usually have better quality than other Bokers. Some of the good ones I have are (country of manufacture in parentheses): Pipsqueak (Germany), Minos (Germany), Haddock (Germany). Kwaiken flippers (Taiwan) and Federal (China).

Minos is an incredible, beefy, high-quality little folder at a premium price. The Edge Observer Review: The Böker Minos designed by Jens Ansø

Only picked up two Nanos and a Kwaiken so far. The Kwaiken needed to have the lockbar adjusted, it was impossible to open with a thumb. No big deal except I forgot it was IKBS :)

I'm looking forward to more Boker Plus collabs.

I've owned a lot of knives over the years, the Haddock is hands down one of my all time favorites. Top notch through and through. Boker gets a lot of crap around here but the ones I've handled were well made, even the Chinese plus line.
