I have a Boker Copperhead. Made in Germany. It has a mountain on the shield, instead of the traditional tree. It is gray/blue bone. There is a mountain scene and lodge etched on the main blade. It is stamped with 048. Can anyone tell me when this was made? What is the significance of the mountain shield and landscape etching?

Thanks,
Kyle

Sounds like the Alpine Series. They were a limited edition, all had the grey bone. Several patterns were made. I have the copperhead, a whittler, and a congress pattern. If I remember correctly, they were made in the early 1990s, and they had something to do with a contest in which the winner received a trip to Germany.
