I'm no knife expert so this is more of a personal first impression than a real review! I received yesterday the Boker Cox Slim. I couldn't find a lot of first-hand information online but I did read some mixed opinions on this knife. I ordered it anyway because I really fell in love with the design. After playing around with it for a day I have to say that I am positively surprised! The fit & finish is not perfect but in my opinion acceptable enough for a knife in this price category (the finish of the screw connections looks a bit cheap, there is a very small cleft between spring and one of the scales close to the pivot). I really do like the blade shape and the thickness of the blade (4 mm). The stone wash looks amazing, the brushed micarta feels smooth but still gives you enough grip. It also makes the knife very light so that it can be carried comfortably in the front pocket without a clip. The spring is very strong but the thick blade makes it easy to open and the it came razor sharp out of the box. I just got this so I can't say anything about how it will hold up as a user knife yet but it feels very robust and the stone-washed blade and the micarta handles don't seem to be very sensitive.
This is of course not the most practical knife. Although it is only as long as the Alox Cadet the unusual blade shape gives it a much higher profile. I don't think perfectionists or purists would be very happy with it but if you are looking for a small, Anso-style user knife this will fit the bill. It is not a traditional design nor a modern or tactical looking knife, simply a timeless design.
