Boker congress deep red jigged bone #BO70113JRBI

I just picked up one of these boker red jigged bone congresses. I use
to have one of these, "stepped" bolsters and all, when I was young.

I thought I would try one, especially since the blades are good "ole" carbon steel. I had bought four of the boker green pick bone barlows last year, which if any of you remember, was a real dissappointoment (to say the least).

These however, were a different story!!! the quality of the fit and finish was
"impressive" I have not seen a knife from boker in a long time receive this much attention!! The stepped bolsters were very nice, symetric, they fit the red jigged bone handles very well, very "tight". The liners were thicker stock brass than I have seen on many slip joints these days. The knife even had double liners, although the diving liner (between the blades was cut much shorter (not as pronounced). The "deep" red pick bone handles were a very pretty shade!!! The carbon blades came razor sharp and the springs were nice and "tight", just right. Much attention was put into this knife and I would highly recommend it!!! this is the quality I remember from many years ago!!!! If only some of the other makers would put this much attention into their knives! I hope boker keeps this up!! (if you guys at Boker are reading this please listen :) !!!

Kudos to Boker!!! :D They have really surprised me with this one!!!!

If anyone is interested Richard at the florida knife hut: www.thefloridaknifehut.com

He has them for 33.50 (cheapest place Ive seen and good service too!!)

Nice review...I just picked up a Boker jigged red bone Stockman off eBay...hasn't arrived yet. I will post a review when it arrives.....the price was right...and the blades are carbon steel. Hope mine is as nice as your Congress.

-Regards

I carried the congress this last weekend, it was quite nice! I really like the older slip joints with the carbon steel and this one is just like them! Handmade right down to the "pinned on" shield!!!

The Boker jigged red bone Stockman I bought off eBay just arrived. WOW!!!!...beautiful fit and finish. good snap to the springs, and very sharp blades. Sometimes I notice that on a new slipjoint only the main blade will be fully sharpened....not the case here....all three blades are equally imressively sharp ! Also this stockman has rounded bolsters...I like the rounded bolsters for pocket carry. I paid $28 shipped for the knife and if I had paid twice as much as that I would not have been disappoined. 1095 carbon blades, exceptional fit and finish, "snappy" springs......these knives are 1st class !

Gramps, good to hear you like your knife! Im impressed with these new classics myself. I like the fatct they they are pinning the shields on, versus the glued on ones like on the current case knives (and others). Although, I did notice the new case bose lockback whittler has a pinned shield, but that will set you back over 200.00.

This thread slipped by me while I was on vacation and away from the PC. Thanks Rev JCH and Gramps for the reviews. I've added Boker jigged red bone knives to my "to buy" list as a result. I may go for the whittler and/or the larger congress.

I'll thank you guys for the reviews as well. They're really helpful when deciding on buying a knife you've never handled.
