Boker Direkt Blade Play

I have Boker CLB Direkt that I like quite a bit except that it has a very small amount of up/down blade play. The side-to-side is rock solid. I have oiled the knife and adjusted the pivot screw quite a bit and the only way to get rid of the play is to tighten it down completely. When I loosen the pivot screw to allow the knife to be operable with the flipper the play is there. When the knife is open and I press my finger on the liner the blade play disappears. On normal opening the lock looks to be more than adequately engaged, but that last little pressure seems to remove the blade play. Is it possible/probable that as the knife breaks in that the liner lock engagement on opening will firm up further taking away the blade play?

The amount of play is really minor, and I could live with it if I had to, but I have a pretty low tolerance for such things. I have a number of the Boker CLB (the Trance is my favorite) and have never experienced any blade play whatsoever until this one.

I would put this at the Böker section of the forum.
Most likely you will get a response from a Böker representative.
They probably will tell you to send it in to be replaced :)

Or just contact them via pm or write an email to Böker.

Had an issue once with a Trance, I send it in and received a new one.

Good idea, I forgot about the Boker section. Hopefully a moderator will move this. If the problem will work itself out I'd rather not send it back (but won't hesitate to do so).

BTW, this small issue didn't prevent me from just buying an M Type.

I've decided to send the knife back to Boker USA for repair/replacement. It's packed and ready to go. I'm sure Boker would rather have the opportuniy to deal with it. I have had nothing but good experiences with Bokers and have heard good things about their customer service.

As the Direkt heads out incoming will be a Mini Resurrection and an M Type :-)
