I recently received a brand new Boker slipjoint form my grandson for a retirement gift; a Tree Brand Classic genuine stag Canoe with 440c blades. I have never seen a knife so poorly built. I know my grandson must have paid good money for this knife....he has a weekend job and I imagine he saved to buy this for me. I was thrilled to receive such a thoughtful present. But the back springs on this knife are nearly nonexistent. With the main blade in the open position, a gentle flip of the wrist sends the blade closing downward. The main blade is so badly fitted in the closed position that is rubs against the tang of the small pen blade and has scratched the main blade from just simply opening and closing several times . This knife is a disaster and my grandson deserves better for his labors. I wonder if Boker can make things right for both my grandson and me ?

Yes,I can make it right for you.
But was there any reason to come on here, and complain in an open forum, without calling us at the office?
I could understand complaining if we didn't take care of you,but a simple phone call would have been just as good, and not make it sound so awful.
Call us Monday at the 800 number and dial extension 21,I'll take care of you. That would be the proper way to handle this.

The proper way to have handled this would be to have a modicum of quality control at Boker !!!! My God.....my grandsons hard earned money is in YOUR poket; why are you sore !!! ??? I am just posting the facts. Now we have an issue of customer service called into question ON TOP of quality control. It seems to me you are exibiting a VERY sophomoric response. I just retired from 40 years working closely with the public and not one of us would have ever told the customer what you just posted. When we had a complaint we just made it right...it wasn't the customer's issue; it was our issue. Sadly, your response reflects the quality of the Boker knife my grandson bought. I suggest you stand in front of the mirror and practice the phrase: " sorry about that, mistakes happen...don't worry we will make it right". Until you get that down perhaps you ought relinquish the duties of responding on the forum to someone with a tad bit more tact !

-regards

TJT, I'd like to call that number on Monday and talk to your boss and ask him to take a look at your response here. It would be interesting to hear what he might say . Folks see how foolishly a simple customer issue handled oh so poorly can snowball ? I call to your attention those following this post....observe Boker customer service at work. You be the judge !

-regards

I did not find the original post overly rude or loaded with personal insults. If someone wants to discuss Boker quality and ask questions regarding customer service, this seems like the appropriate place to me...

Gramps, Boker has a long tradition of quality knifemaking and most of the Boker knives I've handled have been high quality. I'm confident they'll exchange the defective knife for a new one.

Best Wishes,
-Bob

Thanks Bob ! Hopefully what pehaps we have here is just a rare poor example follow by TJT's rash response.

-regards

Perhaps that didn't come across the way I meant it,if so I apologize.
I didn't call into question the facts you were stating, nor the fact
that there is a QC problem that needs taken care of.
When I typed my response,I was actually trying to see if you had called, and not been taken care of.
I will endevor to be more careful how I phrase it.
I still will take care of the problem for you,and hope you accept my apology.
When I stated the proper way to handle it,I meant I could get your address,as I didn't think you would want to post that here, for a replacement
knife.
Once again,many apologies.

I just went and re-read my post, and it did come across as harsh and rude.
Gramps,I did not mean it that way,and will take more care with how I write.
I should've waited til I had more time, instead of hurrying.
I am sorry.

I am interested in providing good customer service, even from home, but if the
responses I give are not appropriate, that is wrong.
I can say no more, other than once again,I'm sorry.
TJT

Sir,
As I stated above,I apologized, and will fix the problem.
But nothing can be accomplished by editing posts after the fact.
I am locking this, and would take care of further issues on the phone.
Thank you.
