Boker Grand Canyon

Does anyone own one of the Boker Grand Canyon series? If so, how do you like it? Fit/finish? I like the jigging and color. Also, are they carbon or stainless steel? I'm finding conflicting info on different websites.
 
I've got one, a whittler, which is very nice. I really like the jigging, and it is especially nice compared to that on another Boker I have (a "Tree Brand" canoe).

The "Tang Stamp" and "Tree Brand" series from Boker are carbon (with the exception of a small pen knife I got, which has the "Tree Brand" logo but is marked Stainless...). I ran into the same thing you did, where half the sites refer to it as "Solingen stainless" and the other half say "carbon".

I've found many, many vendors out there don't give a rip about offering valid descriptions. You tend to expect this from online auction sellers, but it can be really frustrating when you run into it from dealers you trust and use as references. But then, they carry lots of knives, and maybe can't be expected to be intimately familiar with each.

Thanks. Decisions, descisions. Pattern, handle material, steel...so many choices. Isn't life grand (canyon, that is)?
 
I've been very pleased with my Grand Canyon bone Copperhead. I rounded the slabs of bone up a bit to get the look and feel I prefer. A belt sander followed by white rouge and a buffing wheel gave me the desired effect in a few minutes.
 
My Copperhead is proving to be very desirable. The scales and jigging are really impressive,nice colour too like liquorice with greys and brown purple.
Fit&finish are very good for a 29 dollar knife, no complaints there. Sharp too:thumbup: The Grand Canyon series appears to be all carbon blades as far as I can see. But, as has been pointed out, dealers can be vague(they just don't know..)I've seen the blade described as 'carbon stainless' in places..Wha:D??
 
This line is German made, correct? It's getting hard to follow Boker around the world.

Nothing wrong with the Arbolito knives made in Argentina either:thumbup:
 
I have a Boker Copperhead in redbone, which serves as my classy, "gentleman's" knife. The only reason I didn't go for the Grand Canyon, is it was ambiguous as to whether it was carbon or stainless (I really wanted carbon).

I'm fond of Boker's quality and value, and it's fun to own a product that reflects my German heritage. I'm sure there are others in my future.

Does Boker make a peanut pattern?
 
I've got the Grand Canyon bone 4" stockman. Probably one of the nicest most well made production slipjoints I have.

Not to say that's what you can always expect. My experience with Boker slipjoints has been mixed. I've had a few that had weak springs. However, the ones that were nice were REALLY nice.

One thing I like about the Grand Canyon series...normally I'm not a big fan of blade etches, but the GC series etch is very tasteful and elegant IMO.

I say, get one.

Also, my understanding is the blades are 1095 high carbon.
