What kind of steel is the blade made with? The only description I see is damascus. Am I missing something? I thought damascus was more of a technique used with steel.

As I understand it, Damascus steel is the use of two different steels forged into layers so that each of the two steels will finish with a different look and each will provide, theoretically, different qualities to the blade. Modern Boker, German made Damascus, generally uses two stainless steels with different carbon content to attain the distinctions. Not sure what exact knife you are looking at. Damascus used in Boker German made knives is generally 300 layers achieved by folding, pounding and forging over and over again to get the desired result. Boker Plus is frequently 71 layers and Boker Magnum 37 or 49 layers and may be stainless or non.
