So as the title says, I was wondering what steels were used in the pattern welded version of the Boker Kalashnikov

All the websites I see information on it just list the steel type as "Damascus" which of course unless it is very old steel or a very old knife, it is very much not genuine Damascus, but nobody says it is that I know of. At least no respected manufacturer does.
Most people interested in knives know this. So why does boker not communicate to use which steels were used in their pattern weld? I looked over their website and cannot really find information.

Is it just another mystery metal pattern weld? Boker has made some great knives, and are a well respected cutlery company - so what gives?

Is there an easy answer out there that I just cannot find with google somehow?

Which Boker Kalashnikov Damascus you are talking about??
The one, we used to make in Germany was stainless steel damascus I guess from Damasteel, Sweden.

The one, we have in the Boker PLus line is forged stainless steel and carbon steel damascus.

I was wondering really what steels were used specifically.

S30v?
440C?
1080 High Carbon?
01 Tool Steel?

I was wondering which 2 or more steels were used to form that particular pattern weld.

Edit: The reason I really want to know is I just purchased this knife, and I was wondering what steels are in the knife I have, so I know if it is stainless or carbon, the expected hrc, . Some steels react to certain things more than others, as such some steels are easier to modify (such as blueing) - and I also like to get an idea of what kind of durability, edge retention, etc.. I might get out of it based on the steels used (although it is damascus, more for looks and collectors, and just the appreciation of the craftsmanship that went into it)

Also I do like to have the ability to answer somebody if they ask "hey so what kind of steel is in that there pattern weld"

Won't change my mind about the purchase but you know, still would like to know :P
