I would like to know your opinions on Boker Knives vs. Cold Steel, Ka-Bar, SOG, Kershaw, Gerber etc.

Boker's German made lines are great, their Argentine made stuff is decent, their China made stuff not so hot.

The Boker Gemini is a great EDC knife, but for that price a Spyderco Endura/Delica, Native III or even the CRKT M16/21 series are better. (I have heard about serious lock failure about the Gemini series, after that I'm a little skeptic.)
The Leopard2 is beautiful, but that price I could get a Strider...

Since they are all big manufacturers, there are several models from every one of them. Please be a bit more specific. What size would you like? What is your price range?

That is a great question. Especially because Boker makes a huge variety of traditional pocketknives (slipjoint) - and the other companies you mentioned aren't really in that business.

I think Last Conferderate pretty much nailed it.

And that's part of the problem with Böker IMHO: the overall quality of their products varies so much, you have to be extra careful when you choose one.

Hey fixed blade, and the same price range for each company

Don't fully understand this post...

But Boker is not known for its fixed blades. It's known mainly for quality slipjoints and other pocketknives made in its facility in Solingen Germany.
As mentioned, it also manufactures in Argentina, but you can do a lot better for the money than buying an Argentinian Boker.

There are so many good fixed blade knives depending on what your needs are...the price point...

How about you start with...let's say... Benchmade, Busse, and Becker.

See if anything they make appeals to you.

I agree. If you stick to the above mentioned brands, chose a Ka-Bar, but if you want an inexpensive but very good fixed blade, consider a Becker or a Ranger.

Boker makes a decent knife, they've been doing it for well over a 100+ years. The red bone carbon (currently), and other carbon steel lines are great. Also the higher end folders are good. Its the magnum line, and the 420 I would stay away from. Some fo the argentine made ones are decent also. Ive been using their knives for over 25+ years and they have always performed well.

rev, that's the best explanation yet.

I have a red jigged bone carbon steel stockman on its way to me. I wouldn't be surprised if their Arbolito (Boker in Argentina) gaucho knives are pretty good users. I like traditional designs. There are reasons they stay popular.

Boker has some good-looking modern folders, some very modern, too. Just keep away from their Magnum line, that's the one from China. It's not all bad, either, but they are not up to the others' standards. They're not meant to be. They have always been a budget line. Until recently, they weren't even sold with the Boker name near them.
