It seems like something that someone could use as an improvised knuckleduster, which I'd think would probably make it illegal.

I don't want to get in trouble with the law, so I just wanted to double-check if this would get me in trouble, if not in the US, in Illinois. I know the blade length isn't an issue, as it's only 2.5 inches. (under the 3 inch limit)

Also this is the first time posting on this forum, so I'm sorry if I posted this on the wrong board..

The United States has no laws regarding knuckledusters nor about knives beyond sales restrictions on switchblades and ballistic knives. Such is left to the states.

Illinois as a state does have laws against knuckledusters but it's not clear if this would count as one. It seems unlikely since it is not meant for that use any more than many common tools that have finger holes. By the letter of the law, a fixed blade is legal so long as one doesn't have criminal intent, but certain areas do have local municipal codes that may prohibit this. If you're in Chicago that is a whole other mess I'm not going to touch.

I see...thanks for the reply.

And I don't live in the Chicago area, so I guess I should be fine.
