Boker Magnum Blitz Manual knife mislabeled as 440c when it's 440a - PISSED!

I recently got my Boker Magnum Blitz Manual knife. The button lock and action are really smooth and nice for a non-auto but when the knife came I was quite surprised to see the blade labeled as simply 440 and since it's such a cheap knife and I really wanted to test what type of 440 it was, I started cutting some aluminum coke cans. After 3 cans, cutting only the thinnest parts of the skin the edge was ruined. No chipping but at least 1/3 of the blade edge is folded over. Is this proof positive these knives are not 440c as they are being advertised?

Anyone else have one or notice how easily the blade is worn and damaged? I'm really disappointed. :barf:

I don't think I would be 'pissed' because a cheap knife behaved, well, cheaply. You most of the time get what you pay for. Does the knife have 440C written on the blade or box? How is it advertised as 440C?

How far back is the edge rolled? Could it have had a wire edge? That is what it sounds like to me if the thin part of a Coke can did it. Any steel would have looked like that if it had a wire edge.

Good possibility. Give it a good sharpening and see how the edge holds up after that. It may still be 440A but not as totally useless as it seems now.

I find it very common for a factory edge to be relatively weak, resulting in rolling and/or micro chipping. Resharpen enough to get into some good steel, and it'll probably be OK.

You know what grinds my gears people who expect custom like quality from a cheaply made blade. Get over it if you don't like it buy custom blades instead of cheaply made production knives. No makers quality control is perfect. :grumpy:
