So I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this knife

http://www.tpsannex.com/b-01mb804.html

how's the 440a? fit and finish? boker seems to have a pretty good reputation from what i've been hearing.

yeah, I know it's from china, but it seems like such a pretty knife for such a cheap price.

440A is really low end these days. 440C is the one to look for;
Of course at the price you can't complain as at least the production quality of this cheap "Magnum" line is pretty good. However I would rather save up a bit for Boker's next quality level which is the Boker Plus series. Made in Taiwan, but more refined.

It's only 10 bucks, go for it if you want, I have 1 boker magnum and the framelock is very good, there's no blade play and it's lockup is better than my Boker Trance.

ok, so i'm guessing boker magnum is like a "budget" line of boker, is that correct? do you guys know of any other knives that look like that one?

i know it's cheap, but i also don't want to buy garbage just cause it looks pretty

Yep, it's their more cheaper line of knives, they're great for beaters, here's a pic of the one I have.

Despite my observations above, they are definitely not garbage. Typically Magnums are reasonably well made, and the blade steel is inline with the budget of the knife. You cannot really expect better at the price. So it's a value for money knife in the true sense of the word. Since you like the shape, buy it (I don't know a similar looking alternative) and sharpen it from time to time.
Otherwise, if you want to save up some $17.5 more, you can have one of the true bargains on the knife market: the Browning Ice storm with curved handle is made by Mcusta and actually nearly a clone of a 3 times more expensive mcusta (I know as I can compare them side by side), and while it looks very different from the Magnum it's available here for only $26.99. It offers amazing quality (incl VG10 blade) at the price. The burgundy one is out of stock but the gold one is in stock. It's a satin gold color, not shiny, meaning it looks much better in real life than on that picture.

thanks for the suggestions. i wasn't implying that this knife was garbage; i just wanted to make sure that it wasn't.

At that price and with that length blade, it isn't going to be a hard use knife, so the 440A might not be too bad. I would look for something about 3x the price and get a really decent knife. But if you go for this, you're getting reasonable value for the money.
