Good morning everyone,

I am new to this forum and liked the community enthusiasts, general knowledge, modification recommendations, etc. First, I would like to say that I am in no way an expert and am just an amateur who likes knives who is open to constructive criticism. Moving on. I have a few knives and looked around for information on general to complex modifications. I found a decent amount of information for the Becker knives (specifically the BK7) and looked around for the Bker Khucom. There are some youtube reviews on this knife but not much in the form of mods.

I like the weight of this knife making it essentially a chopping tool. I would imagine it would be excellent at chopping and batoning as I have yet to field test it.

When it arrived, the first thing I noticed was the kydex sheath. It's not bad but it's not the best either. But when a knife comes produced in the masses quantity over quality will be emphasized. When you pull this blade out of the sheath, minute pieces of the kydex will come off onto the blade. Not a big deal but just something to point out as this seems to be consistent with other owners.

The sheath comes with belt clip that is not very ideal to wear on a belt, my belts anyway. It looks like a thin piece of aluminum (I think, I'm sure this can be verified on the Bker website, but this is my initial reaction) that is loose when I wear it with a 2 inch wide belt. Granted my belt is a thin belt, it might work better with a thicker belt. I purchased a Bker blade-tech tek lok latching attachment system thinking this would be the answer to the weak belt clip. I discovered that it was too small for the wide sheath on the top of it and too wide for the bottom of the sheath (regardless of the positioning of tek lok). I may drill a hole or two in the sheath to see if I can manipulate the sheath to the lok to fit toward the top of the sheath (I will post some before and after pictures if I do this). Right meow I have the lok on the bottom of the sheath with a zip tie

The handle of the knife feels wide in my hands (I have what some may call baby hands, whatever) and generally feels like it's a little boxy in my hands. I may shape the micarta handles for a more custom fit. Again, if I do this, I will post before and after pictures.

The blade itself come from the factory a little dull, but this isn't huge concern as I purchased this blade to use primarily as a chopping tool. I did however experiment with a Smith's pocket sharpener, using the file and a sharpening stone (using the rougher grit). I was able to put a decent sharp edge with both of these tools.

That's about all I have or can think of at this moment, but if any you have some advice, recommendation, pictures I would appreciate anything. Thank you.

Thanks for the review; I've considered getting the Khucom, due to it's similarity to the Orca & Beluga models. I have so many knives in 440 already though that I had held off on getting it.

Welcome to BF!

Thanks everyone for the hospitality, I feel welcomed for such a noob. :) I want to point out something out. I ordered this knife from amazon because it was considerably inexpensive compared to what the manufacturer's site had listed. After realizing the Boker tek-lok from amazon didn't fit on the sheath I looked to the manufacturer's site again and noticed that the sheath advertised on the site has more eyelet holes than what came with my sheath from amazon. So when boker advertises on their site that the sheath is tek-lok compatible then yes it appears to be so. But if you get the knife from amazon, you're going to have some work to do if you want tek-lok. Just a quick observation.
