Aloha cfourie,

Welcome! Magnum knives are made in Taiwan. They make a lot of knives that vary for all types of knife users. They are to Boker what the Byrd line is to Spyderco. I am not sure if they have their "own" website...TJT will have to help you with that.

As for your Skinner, again , a question for TJT.:o

Hope to have helped a little and God bless from rainy Hawaii:thumbup:

Magnum is called A Division of Boeker.

I don't know the Magnum Skinner, but the blades of most Magnum knives
seem to be made of 420 and 440 Stainless (440A ?) steel. As the Magnum
knives are quite inexpensive, I would consider them okay for the money.

You can find the Magnum knives on the Boeker Germany and Boker USA websites.

As there is some confusion we want to explain our company's philosophy. We own both brands Boker Treebrand and Magnum. The Boker name is only on products coming out of our own production in Solingen / Germany or in Argentina, whereas Magnum is an imported line of fine products meeting our quality standards, however, independent manufacturers most in the Far East like Taiwan and China are supplying us. We cover Magnum with the same guarantee like our own products. Both brands are represented in one identical catalog and on our website. And in addition, we introduced the brand "Boker Plus" in 2006 for products designed in Solingen and produced in the far east.

Best regards
Ernst Felix

Mr. Felix, I have a question regarding Magnum slipjoints. Firstly, I must say I'm impressed with the two that I have. they are very decent pocketknives, regardless of price, and I think I paid less than $15 apiece for each of them on ebay.

The question is, is it possible that the blades are differentially tempered? I wouldn't think this possible on such small blades, especially at the price point for these knives. However, all four blades on the 4" congress I just bought appear to have a definite temper line. I'll try to post some pictures if that will help.

Can you tell me anything about this?

Regards,

Jim
