Boker newbie - Haddock incoming! A little worried...

Hi everyone,
I was looking for a framelock folder reasonably sturdy and beefy (without planning on prying tanks with it, if you know what I mean) and ran into the Boker Haddock, DLC coated - love at first sight so I ordered it.
Now I have second thoughts since I didn't search around as I usually do before any purchase - I had experiences with other brands about misaligned blades, bad lockup, dull sharpening..unacceptable for me when it's a 200 bucks knife...so I'm waiting forward for my Braddock to arrive...it's made in Germany, not China: hope Boker Quality Control won't disappoint me....

Regards, Erminio

Fear not - the Haddock is a keeper! I have had mine since last June - bought it without looking it over. It wasn't terribly sharp - in fact, it had a wire edge. A bit of stropping on my pants leg and it was pretty good - a minute on a charged strop made it a razor. Nice knife.

If you need to 'pry' - there is always the fb above - the Boker Prymate. Actually, like the Haddock, it has a healthy spine and heavy hollow grind - good slicers!

Big difference on Bokers made in Germany, i only buy bokers from germany. just my opinion.

Thanks for your feedback, guys!
I really want to find the Haddock as good as it looks and to get to appreciate Boker as a brand...and yes, many of my expectations come from the fact that the Haddock is made in Germany.
I was also a little reassured seeing that the forum moderator is a customer service representative with Boker and seems pretty active here...guess I could go through any issues with him if I had to...

Now waiting to get the knife....

Regards
Erminio

I'll also chime in to assure you that the Boker Haddock is a great knife. The workmanship, lockup, and blade-centering of mine are on par with knives at twice the price. Mine came razor-sharp.

Not that the PRC-made Boker-Plus line needs a champion, but the four such examples I have, including the stag-handled Rhino and regular Gnome shown below with the Prymate, along with a Mosier and CLB Subcom Titan, not shown, came as perfect as the German made units. Of course, the sum total of my four PRC-made Bokers was less than my cost for any of the German made Boker premium knives I bought last year (Haddock, Prymate, and Titan Worker). The difference ranged from enough for 'Happy Meals' for two to a decent dinner out. Oddly, while none of the German made knives were real 'razors' right out of the box, that Plus-line Mosier sure was! Much of the 'Plus' line really is a decent value.
