Hello, i'm looking to pick up a new knife shortly, and the Boker Orca is on my list of choices...

My first question is about this knife is the serrations, the one i have seen around has serrations that seem to go about half way across the blade (which to me is a bit too much)... than i came across this image during a search:

and

It seems to show that the serrations going about a 1/3 of the way across the blade... Compared to the images seen on the Boker site, and the ones on AG Russel's site. Is this an earlier version or different model that is available? Because i would much prefer this particular one with the shorter serrated section if its available.

Another thing i'm wondering is, what is the blade thickness? I have done a bit of searching and browsing of knife sites, and NO ONE (including the boker website) seem to state the blade thickness... This is a bit odd, but would you be able to tell me what it is?

Blade thickness is important to me becuase the knife i'm looking for is ideally around 0.12" to ~0.18" thick.

Thanks!

Aloha and welcome pulse5!

Sorry, I don't have an answer for you, and I too, find it odd in that only OAL and price is mentioned. Thickness IS important to specify...

Oh well...we'll just have to sit back and wait for Mr. TJT to give us an answer. ;)

Great choice of knife BTW!

God bless :)

Sorry guys,I saw this, but got busy.
I will grab one and try to answer it tomorrow, when I get back to the shop.
It is a good knife BTW.
I think there may be a review of it in one of the back issues of Realfighting.
Try it at www.realfighting.com
It is in back issue #7,under the knife reviews.
Thanks,TJT

I've had a Boker Orca for a few years now. Mine has serrations that extend a little further than the one you have pictured. There is also a plain edge version available called the Orca II. At least it was available a year ago.

The stock steel thickness is 1/4". Although it has a thinner ground swedge on the spine portion. The swedge has a false (un-sharpened) edge.

The Orca is a nice heavy duty knife. I keep mine in my vehicle at all times.

Thanks for the info. 1/4" eh? Yeah that would certanly make it a good utility knife.

Actually the Orca II was the second one i looked at, mainly since i didnt like the serrations that take up half the knife edge.

TJT would you happen to have any info on the 1/3 serrations that are in the image i posted?

Thanks.

Nothing concrete,so far.
It might have been one of the protos,or a test model.
I'm still trying to find out.

Lets not use this forum as a resale/trade forum.
There are other foums here for that.
Thanks,TJT

Thanks for looking it up, i appreciate it.

Hi Pulse5,
did you already get the Orca? I have mine for about 2 years know and hardly ever use it. I was very disappointed about the knive. It is undestructable, yes, but that's about all positive I can say about the knife. Its cutting ability seems bad to me, and it isn't a good chopper either. Much too expensive for what it offers.
