So I just received my new boker epicenter, and it a beautiful heavy duty quality knife, and I love it except for the fact that it is impossible to open with on hand almost. Does anyone have any experience with this knife, or had this problem before.

No offense if this seems too obvious, but did you try loosening the pivot? I had an Epicenter and it was not hard to open at all.

Just needs broke in, The more you Play with it the better it will become, its the crazy detent those have.
. DO NOT OVER LOOSEN!

I did loosen the pivot and it did absolutely nothing. I lubed it as well. Once it is slightly open it moves fairly well, but getting it out of completely closed with a thumb is damn near impossible. My thumb is killing me now from trying for so long.

Thanks heathen, I will keep working it, though it will have to be two handed cuz my thumb can't take anymore, but ya I did notice that it has a large detent, and I can feel it as I open the blade actually

Yes, this one can be quite bruiser to get used to at first.

I recall having to go through the same thing a year or so ago when I got mine.

It is a great production version of a very popular custom knife though.

Make sure you are not pressing against the lockbar with your last two fingers as you open it. The one I had opened relatively easy, and I had to tighten it because I like a tighter pivot. It does have a very firm detent as I recall. Great knife btw, and I hope you enjoy it!

Welcome aboard!:thumbup::)

Try to open the knife with your left hand. Sounds weird for sure but if you can open with your left hand its not the detent, its your fingers on the lock bar.

Ya taking my fingers off of the lock bar helps some, but it's still difficult to open, so I know the detent is still part of the problem. Plus it's very awkward to open that way. So I will just keep working it and see what happens after a week or two

Try locating your thumb on different areas of the thumbstud and experiment with different grip positions when opening. When I first got my Greyman Satu I was trying to open it the same way I was opening my ZT 550 and my thumb was sore shortly after. I eventually found the sweet spot and it opens smooth and easy. On my Zt 550 the thumbstub needs to be pushed on the upper inside of my thumb. On my Satu the thumbstud needs to be nearer the center to outer edge of my thumb. Every knife opens alittle different and like some stated earlier sometimes they just need to be broken in.

Ya I have tried all different thumb positions and angles of opening, it just needs to be broken in I hope.
