I'm interested in this little fellow and was wondering if anyone has experience with it? Looks like a classy little cheapie I wouldn't mind using hard. I've been impressed by other knives in the Plus series, but never handled any of the traditionals in that line.

Made me want a Hawkbill too, one of he few patterns I don't have, despite being a keen gardener....that's ridiculous!

Most are 4" closed, how big is that Böker?

It's 4" closed with a 3" blade, according to KnifeCenter. Only $15, too--which is just one more factor that makes it even more appealing! The bolsters are steel, which ought to give it some good durability when getting knocked around in the dirt. I just haven't heard of anyone having one of these, and it just has such nice lines. :)

I was looking at the AG Russell version but his one is worth a look also I would say.

Hmm...guess I'm the only one looking at this knife. I'll try to pick one up this summer and do a review on it. :)

I think it looks dandy, and at $15 not much to lose either way.

You cannot lose with that price. I own about 3 Hawkbills, and use them for pruning. The only issue with most is that they are large and bulky, not too comfortable in your back pocket. I collect the old ones. I have a Cattaraugus, Klein, and a Tina. I love hawkbills. You need rods to sharpen them, flat slab stones will not work.

Sure they will. As long as you don't mind wearing down the edge of a stone it will do quite nicely in a pinch. ;)

I recently have realized that I love hawkbills with a relatively straight section of edge at the base of the blade and lots of meat at the tip (I can't stand the shape of Spyderco hawkbills, though I love the brand dearly) and the profile of this one really tickles my fancy.

Saw an Eye Brand pruner that looked more like a scaled down Cotton Sampler or Razor. Could be easier to sharpen I suppose?

I have my Grandfather's Kutmaster, still in good condition and very, very sharp...I use the Spyderco Tri-Angle kit. That's his zippo in the pic as well...

That's a beauty, dude! Thanks for sharing! I love the zippo, too.

Hey! I just saw this thread,

yes I have a Boker Plus Hawkbill.

I have around 25 Hawkbills, mainly Case XX but I have a few others and I wanted to try this one out. Glad I did. blade was centered, nice bone handles f&f was nice. I have to say that its a pretty good knife for the money.

so I bought another one.

also, another one I was impressed with for the money was the Rough Rider Hawkbill.
again, blade centered, nice bone handles and lanyard hole. SS blade
