I have the Boker version of the Nealy Aikuchi. Can someone who has both of these knive tell me of any differences in the grinds? Also, are the sheathes of equal quality? I am trying to justify the purchase of the Nealy.

Thanks for your help.

The sheaths are not of equal quality, Bud's sheath is better then the boker version. I carry a drop point specialist in a custom kydex sheath and own the tanto version but don't carry it as I haven't gotten a new sheath for it. I haven't owned that particuliar Nealy but have owned two or three and his handles are better then the boker knives. I love my boker specialist and use it all the time but Nealy's knives are better, I am not sure they are 200.00 dollars better but that is hard to quantify. And having said that I own two of the bokers and am recieving my 3rd Nealy today or tomorrow. 3.5 inch s30v kinzal in the mcs 2 system.

Good knives all around ya can't go wrong either way IMO

I have several Boker knives, some of them are the Nealy style of neck carrry. The Boker knives I have ordered have been kind of "hit & Miss" as far a quality control is concerned.

I ordered a Bud Nealy Y2K and when it arrived I was surprised to note that the edge was not fully sharpened. There was a flat spot at the start of the grind line and a flat spot at the tip of the blade. I don't think this is an example of very good quality control either.
Of course I called Bud Nealy and he pleaded with me to send the knife back and he would make it right, however, I chose not to go to the hassle of sending it back and then waiting again for it to return so I sharpened it myself and decided that for me I would not order again from Nealy. I thought he ground and inspected each knife himself but I guess I was wrong.

FWIW, & Ciao

I don't have this specific Nealy, but I have a couple of others and hBud's multicarry system, rare earth magents and all, is the best I've seen. Really.
My Nealy blades have been superb, but mine are Meier clad damsacus with a 52100 core. Razor sharp and just about perfect blades.
I've thought about the specialist, and the Pick. I have a bias for customs and for a neck knife, the sheath has to be very reliable. Is it worth the difference in dollars? That's a personal choice. For a really hard use knife...well, i did a Fehrman for super slim and super hard use... but if the Boker was particularly solid, I wouldn't hesitate.

i have 2 nealys (5" pesh kebz M2 and a amoeba) and used to have a cave bear, all of mine have been excellent, the amoeba is my fav edc fixed blade of all, imho the boker nealys and the real article are not really in any way comparable, FWIW i dont really like the MCS system he has, but the MASS rocks, just the very best sytem around imho.
