Boker Subcom and my grievances

Hello all, I recently, like within the last 24 hours received a new Boker subcom titanium. I love the looks and feel of the knife, but when I went to open it, I couldn't. After some serious play with the pivot, and even popping the blade out and greasing it down the situation has lessened, but it still has a very strong detent. It's to the point where I cannot open the knife with one hand, ever, not matter how hard I push, and no matter how much it hurts my thumb, the blade does not budge. Then, when I try to loosen the pivot, the blade becomes so off center (though it was already) that it scrapes the frame.

Also, perhaps connected, I noticed the inside of the frame on one side of my pivot is shiny and smooth like the outside of the knife, whereas the other side, the looking side, is chalky (bead blasted looking) making the feel when opening the knife a little less smooth and a little more like it's scraping something unpleasant.

Am I looking way to much into this or is something wrong?
Thoughts?

Frm the way you described it.........it doesn't sound normal to me. My titan subcom has a strong detent, but nothing like my hk conspiracy.....that is one hard knife to open without extra effort. Back on topic........my subcom titan has a strong detent but normal strong I can easily open it fast with minimal effort. Send an email to Terry at bokerusa. Sure he will take of it for you.

Knowing that it should not have left factory that way...

Please use boker's warranty and contact them first in all cases:

Questions:
- Did you clean the pivot area? I recommend initially just hand-soap and an old toothbrush, progressing to more abrasive/stronger detergents if you are so inclined.
- What grease did you use? Most greases (and oils) are usually a bad idea for knife lube, tends to accumulate dirt which can scratch or damage the pivot area over time.
I use a drop of mineral oil and then wipe clean after opening/closing a few times. Gun oil and the related knife lubes work great.
- This chalky substance/area - does it come off with finger or fingernail pressure (i.e. easily)? If not, using a 000 steel wool or a high-grit (800 - 1000) sandpaper might fix your problem.
It sounds a bit like thread-lock fluid (aka Loctite) overflow...

Thanks for your informative responses, it has actually loosened a little. The detent can still be painfully hard to open at times, but improvement is better than not I suppose. However it definitely does not "flick open". as for the chalky surface, I tried to get at it, but of course such is my luck, that one of the torn screws stripped, stopping me from being alb to take it apart... so now I'm stuck on that front... I guess it's time to email Boker...
