which one is better suited for utility and why?

f.y.i. i love the subcom... not to mention the hyper and drop trance; but, there is certainly something about an orange mouse lite.

I have both and prefer the Mouse. I like the fact that there is jimping on two parts of the blade; it allows for different gripping styles. I also find the handle to be more ergonomic for my hand, but that's just my opinion. I also find it to be a bit smoother opening and I prefer opener holes over thumb studs. YMMV.

Subcom is nice, but it's blade profile vs length aint all that great for Utility...the Wharcom however, is ideal for utility!

I completely agree. I had both the Subcom and the Wharcom, and only have the Wharcom now. I found the Wharcom much better in use and performance for the blade length with that pointy wharncliffe blade as opposed to the shape of the subcom.

I have the wharcom and love it! Especially for my paracord projects.
