Boker tactical folders Rock!!

I am mostly a Spyderco fan due to the holes to open blade, which I prefer to any thumbstud. However I must confess I REALLY like Boker tactical folders and think they have the BEST thumbstuds on the market. Just wish they had more models with tip up carry. I don't notice much mention of Boker tactical folders at all on many other forums and I know I can't be the only fan of a company that makes inexpensive knives as good as the Gemini series and AWESOME knives like the Walter Brend and AK47, is there anyone else out there that likes Boker tactical folders as much as I do, honestly folks I collect other brands but were it not for Spyderco a Walter Brend, AK 47, or Gemini would be what I'd carry, surely I can't be the only Boker Tatical fan out there speak up, be heard. ;)

Also I had to add that my under 50 dollar Gemini with LOWLY 440C steel has cut circles around much more expensive knives on more than one occasion. It's more that just having the lastest supersteel, Boker does a superb job on 440C, that helps, also blade geometry is very important and for an EDC knife the geometry of the Gemini is almost perfect. Now if only they'd make it for the same price as a thin plastic handled lockback with tip up deep carry carry clip to combact the likes of the Benchmade Pika, and unfortunatley my beloved Spydercos :) Ya listening Boker ;)

Aloha Spydiefan04!

Have you ever tried their Magnum Line? VERY inexpensive, but man...the quality is there! Honestly, it ain't on all of 'em, but for example, the KA74...WOW! Now, I have heard this coming out w/ a clip this year, I can't wait for that one. AUS8, an amazing texture job on the aluminum scales, and yes, it doesn't sport the "true" Boker stud, but it's fast to open.

I agree, that IF Boker ventures into the FRN world...ahhhhhh, things would be great indeed!

BTW, have you seen their Escrima Folder? WoooHaaaaa....SweeeeeeeeeeeeeT!!!

God bless! ;)

I'm glad to see your posts on this.
Especially because we just got a new folder in that definately meets the "tactical" definition.
Model number is the 80X,named the Shadow.
Blade measures 3 3/8",liner lock, grip texturing inlaid into the handle, and just to answer your request, reversible clip for right hand tip up or tip down carry.
Plus it has the original Boker thumbstud you were talking about.
MSRP is listed at $165.00.Some are in stock now,and images will follow shortly.
I have been carrying it since Christmas, and it is nice, light, and works both as a work knife, and in a defensive mode.
This year looks like a good one for some new designs.
Thanks for your enthusiasm.

Sorry,
Trying to get them posted.
Maybe my old friend Thom could help out again.
Thanks,TJT

Shadow sounds AWESOME, look forward to those pics. I've never personally bought a Magnum knife, or seen one for that matter unless in the catalog counts :) Always been afraid of "cheap" knives but if you guys say they're good I may have to try a few ;)

Spydiefan,
The Magnums Daywalker are talking about are good, but the Shadow is a Boker, made in Germany.
It is passing my test,so far.
Thanks,TJT

Does this Shadow have thin plastic or thick plastic handles or G10 or Micarta with stainless liners, when will they be availble from Boker's website? Also what is the blade steel?

CLB,
Unfortunately,I don't get to do SHOT this year, maybe next year.
Are you going to be at BLADE?

Spydie,
The handle material is aluminum, very strong and stable.Blade steel is X-15.
Thanks,TJT

Aloha TJT!!!

Nope, gotta run the jail, so no knife shows for me...YET! ;)

Take care, and keep in touch! God bless!!!

Still waiting for pics of that Shadow, and where I can buy one, not trying to whine guys but come on :) I was hoping to get a thread going about how awesome Bokers are. This Shadow sounds very promising, when I'm not carrying a Spyderco Delica I've got a Boker Gemini on me, is there anyone here besides me and TJT that regulary carries a Boker??? :D

The Shadow is available for sale through our office now.
I don't have the ability to post a pic,the forum doesn't give me the option.
Sorry,I guess no pic is forth coming, unless someone like Thom helps out.

Interresting, I have an old Speedtouch that has a truly great edge geometry, up there with the very best.

If you mail me the picture I will put it up for you. jdwijbenga @ yahoo . com

Hey spidyfan,

I hear ya man!! I also like the Boker Gemini, I think the quality is outstanding for the price! :) It's got a great design, decent materials, fit and finish is good, in short: it's everything a man could expect and more from a knife at it's pricepoint.

That being said, I do see a difference between the Gemini and my Griptilian, Or my Benchmade 690.....fit and finish and materials are way better on those knives. (for example when i look at the screws used to assemble the knife)

BUT: guess what i'm carrying all day long? right: the Gemini! I've bought it from my brother who couldn't use it all that good since he's a lefty (so any linerlocks aren't that good on him) It's been in my hands for a month, I've done alot of hard work with it and it's stil going strong. Before that my brother had it for about a year...used it hard too.....

In short: The Boker Gemini is a great knife & i like it alot. I also think that the new helios models look great! They also are very similar to the Gemini....never change a good design.. huh?

Bets wishes,
davy

Sorry I'm late.

TJT,

Couldn't find "80X" or "The Shadow" at BokerUSA.com Is it listed in any other manner?

Daywalker,

DDDWS is more of an anthem to a certain man in Tejas. We hear that he's named "Frank", but we never call him that.

Thom,
I'm trying to get a pic I can mail to you.
If not,it might be on the German site under 080X.
Thanks for your help,buddy.
TJT

I may not be good, but at least I'm slow. Couldn't find 080X in the English language site and can't find the search function on the Deutschen language site. :(
