just picked up a boker trance yesterday, have been going through the very basic tests.

Feel: awesome grip, guard is placed well, even for my giant hands!

Profile: slim. i can store it on my belt without noticing, even hile laying down/sitting. great backup knife.

Blade: Taiwanese AUS-8. not so big on the taiwan but AUS-8 on a $30 knife is amazing. cuts as well as my kershaws and is almost as sharp as my benchmade.

Lock: Frame lock. Very strong, no failures as of yet, don't assume there will be any. +1 to boker for incorporating a frame lock over a liner. I am getting a very miniscule amount of vertical blade play, but that is from my own tinkering, it was rock solid out of box.

Looks: Sexy. Blade shape is a beauty. knife comes out slightly past the handle, giving a sort of kitchen knife feel. While not as fetching as my other knives, it is still one that my friends ask to see :)

Overall: THE knife for a person with $30 and a lack of steel. strong lock, sharp blade, slim profile. I am very tempted to not only purchase a subclaw, but to purchase several more trance's, for both myself and people who need a good blade.

If you don't have one, get one.

I too am thinking I'll get the subclaw, and fell in love with the trance when i was looking at the subclaw. Think i'll get the drop point though.

My first and only Bokers are two Subclaws. I like them a lot. So far I'm resisting buying more knives, being a user and not at all a collector, and having covered all bases already. But that Trance looks pretty sweet.

The Trance is my main EDC, I think it' s the best value out there, even better than the Benchmade Red' s, Spyderco Byrds, or any other ''cheaper'' knives.

They look like good knives and I have been fighting that temptation. I have a sub com and a wharcom, and they are well built knives. The trance is a very good entry level knife.

Is the handle long enough for a full grip?

For my medium sized hands it is.

Great knife value for sure. Take a look in the Boker forum for some cool scales that a few forumites have made. I'm going to tackle that myself one of these days. You'll probably find some in-hand pics there as well.

I like how it's thin and unobtrusive, but fills the hand pretty well. The flipper takes some practice and "oomph" to get the blade out, but I use it along with the thumb studs to open the knife. You can also hook the thumbstud on your pant's pocket for a "wave-esque" type of opening. Works well like that.

I also think that it's fantastic. Have people here been able to compare it to the bigger M-type ?

The only problem I have with my Trance is when people ask "So why do you have all those other knives?". Sometimes I ask myself the same thing.

I totally agree with everyone. The Trance is a MUST HAVE knife. Best deal out there. I also dicovered that the thumb stud works as a wave in my back pocket but even when used as a thumb stud, it is the best.

I cannot say enough good things about the Trance, the ergos, the studs, the lock, the price... the Trace has it all... thanks to Chad Los Banos and Boker!
