I've been looking at some small knives as alternatives to my trust peanut, and the Tree Brand pen knife with rosewood looks pretty tempting. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with both, and especially if anyone has pictures of both side by side. The Boker is a bit smaller than the peanut and the peanut is the smallest knife I own, so I'm a little worried about it being too small; some pictures of these two next to each other would help give me a bit more context for making that decision. Thanks!

Hi there! I don't have the Boker, but I have quite a few knives in that size range (Buck 305, Schrade 108ot). For me, the Peanut is about right, while the others are just a tiny bit too small to use comfortably. I wear a size 16 shoe and my hands match, so I've got larger than average forepaws so keep that in mind. I cut myself with them occasionally due to difficult handling when opening, and the single spring construction makes them hard to keep oriented in your hand.. BUT! As I've said, I have several and carry/use them regularly, they're just less than ideal ergonomically. I like having them around when I am doing something like giving a presentation in dress slacks though, no possibility of printing :) Have you looked into the Case 32087? It's a little bit bigger than the Peanut but carries smaller (to me) due to the single spring construction. It's my favorite Case and one of my most carried knives since I got it...

I daily carried a Boker red bone 8288SS pen knife for over ten years. Longer than I've carried any peanuts cumulatively. The Boker pen is a great knife. Sorry, don't have a photo of it with a peanut.

This is my Böker Tree Pen (Germany) in jigged bone. I find it much better than a Peanut, the Peanut is too stubby and fiddly, the secondary blade often tough to open. This bone Böker has thick bone scales which on a small knife are very desirable as they improve grip&handling. Generally, I prefer single-spring knives to Jacks as well, but there are exceptions, the Peanut is however, not one of them.

Thanks, Will

Sorry for the terrible picture quality, but I hope this helps. I'd say it's a matter of preference, but you can't go wrong with a Solingen made Boker.

Excellent, thanks! That sure is a short blade. The 340 looks just about perfect but seems to be out of production  Nice little trio! I've really only heard good things about the Solingen made Bokers (as seen in this thread).
