Boker Urban Survival knife

Inconspicuous maybe, but it definitely looks like a dedicated weapon!

I wish it had a regular, long, thin clip or spear point blade to it. And I wish it was longer (compared to the length of the handle). That blade would stink to sharpen.

I like smaller blades in a full size handle, but that is an ugly knife.

I love Boker's traditional knives and occasionally carry an old stockman, but their "tactical" series (Subcom, et al) really turns me off.

If you want a smaller blade with a larger handle, you'd be better off with a Paramilitary.

I can see the point of the design - the pointed tip for fine work, stabbing moves, etc, the flat for scraping, the recurve for rope and such.

I'd rather see a nice, hard carbon steel for this application.

Ya HC steel would look cool. But I would rather carry something else. It would be great for my wife to carry in her purse:D

Interesting design. Is it meant to function as a kubotan when closed?

Its cool in that it would be quite discreet to carry. Most people would mistake it for a pen.

For most folks it is one of the "tools" that you buy and then put in drawer and forget about. After a few years you will come across it and wonder why you wasted the money. Similar to sword canes, and shivs disguised as pens, not that I've purchased anything like that.

On the other hand, it is about as much blade as most of us need to open the mail or the occasional shipping box, added bonus glass breaker!!!

Honestly, regardless of its supposed original intent, the thing is like a durable and reusable x-acto knife. It holds very nicely like a pen does, and the fine point works very nicely for detailed cutting. I don't think many realize just how tiny it is! Wish I had had one when I was a studio art major...but I've smartened up since then. :D

If it wasn't such a deep chisel grind then I'd love it as a unique and discreet crafts/utility tool, but as it is I'm rather frustrated by the grind. That doesn't necessarily mean that it's hard to use, just that I hate chisel grinds with a dying passion. :barf:

Interesting idea, small/solid "pen like" kubaton with a small utilitish blade and a glass breaker.

Unfortunately the lines on the thing just turn me off, very "mall ninja" to me. Perhaps if was styled differently.
