I actually had an original Vox knife a year or so ago and loved it!! The work, shape and quality was wonderful.....I now have a Boker fixed blade that rides in the car with me everywhere....can't recommend enough!!
Well, i received my Boker Vox Rold in D2 tool steel & 2 Gerber Metolius in D2 tool steel. Am liking them all. The Rold is like it was meant for my hand. Came wicked sharp. Love the choil & the jimping. Knife is not too big, not too small, the perfect mid sized blade. Would be at home field dressing large game, bushcrafting or on kitchen duty. VERY fast in hand.
Gerbers also came wicked sharp. Very ergonomic small knife. Good grippy handle. GREAT for dressing game.
I am looking for a new fixed blade and have narrowed it down to the blackbird sk5 or the rold. I wonder why the rold doesn't get much love. Is it the overseas production? The design? Steel choice? I am very interested in it.
The Rold seems to be somewhat of an underdog, and I don't know why either. Great steel, FFG, nicely shaped handle, light for its size - its a great knife, I love mine so far.
But Boker in general doesn't seem to get a lot of attention on BF.
